Wind energy is set to become the leading source of electricity generation in Europe soon after 2030, according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA’s) World Energy Outlook 2017 (WEO2017).
The Paris-based agency predicts continued strong growth in both onshore and offshore wind, and sees renewables as a whole accounting for 80% of new power generation capacity in Europe between now and 2040.
