The EU must rethink burdensome regulatory frameworks across its member states and get the upcoming Clean Energy Package “right” if it is to build a market that meets the fast-growing private sector appetite for corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs), a string of renewable energy leaders said as they gathered for the first Re-Source conference.

The volume of PPAs – through which companies can purchase renewable energy directly from a generator – almost tripled in Europe in 2016, with over 1GW of capacity contracted.
