Australia’s energy minister has signalled that a steep fall in renewables costs is weakening the case for new clean energy subsidies after 2020, with the liberal-national government of Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull hinting it may abandon setting fresh targets.
In comments to the Australian Financial Review’s National Energy Summit energy minister Josh Frydenberg has indicated that the electricity sector is looking for “stability and not necessarily a handout”.
