South Australia has received almost 60 proposals from domestic and "leading global" players under its pioneering search for renewables-plus-storage deployments, one of which will be Tesla’s 100MW battery linked to a wind farm.
The Australian state launched its A$150m ($116m) Renewable Technology Fund (RTF) earlier this year, seeking storage technologies that could be paired with renewables to firm-up supply or enable bulk energy storage.
