Finnish utility Fortum has signed a transaction agreement with E.ON under which the German utility can sell its 46.65% stake in fossil, hydro and nuclear company Uniper for €3.76bn ($4.42bn) as part of €8.05bn takeover offer for the E.ON spin-off.

Fortum plans to launch the voluntary public takeover offer to all Uniper shareholders in early 2018, with a value of €22 per share that according to Fortum implies a 36%-premium to the price prior to market speculation on a potential transaction.
