Duke Energy to build 13MW of battery storage in US southeast

US utility giant Duke Energy has announced plans to build two utility-scale battery systems in western North Carolina, among the largest such energy-storage projects to energe in the coal-heavy US southeast.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Duke plans to invest $30m building a 9MW storage system in Asheville, the largest city in western North Carolina, and another 4MW system in Hot Springs.
