The US utilty-scale solar sector would be “devastated” if the US International Trade Commission (ITC) rules that tariffs should be imposed on imported PV panels, according to Tom Werner, chief executive of US-based solar giant SunPower.

The US arms of PV manufacturers Suniva and SolarWorld have requested that tariffs of $0.40 per watt (W) be introduced on all foreign-made solar cells, with a minimum floor price on modules of $0.78/W.
