Argentina’s government is preparing a programme to boost local content for renewables to underpin a local industry and create jobs, with import tax exemptions on renewable energy equipment due to expire at the end of 2017.

“We are working on what will be an integration of OEMs in this country for the localisation of factories here. But this won’t stop imports,” said Sebastián Kind, renewable energy sub-secretary at the Energy Ministry, during the New Market Rules seminar organised by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in Buenos Aires.
