Non-hydro renewables capacity will expand by an annual average of 7.9% in the ten years up to 2026, meaning that the sector will almost double in size during that period to more than 1,700GW of installed capacity, Fitch unit BMI Research says.

Of that, 48% will be in wind power, followed by solar with 42% of the renewables capacity mix, 9% for biomass and 1% for geothermal, BMI says in its industry trend analysis on global RE capacity over the next decade.
