Giving a vital role to solar and wind power, India can raise its renewable energy use to meet a quarter of its final energy demand by 2030, a new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) finds.

Independently, BMI Research in an analysis has revised its wind and solar forecasts for India upwards as the country is seen as a global outperformer in capacity growth rates, a development that is underpinned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong support for renewable energies.
