Profits almost doubled at the wind power business of Sweden’s Vattenfall as it piled on capacity in the first half of the year.

The state-controlled utility's wind unit posted an underlying operating profit of SKr1.05bn ($121m) for the January to June period, up from SKr597m at the same stage in 2016.

Vattenfall – which is investing heavily in onshore and offshore wind as part of its ambition to “become fossil free within a generation” – saw wind output leap to 3.9TWh
