A concept for a floating mega-island powered by wind, marine and solar energy has been tested at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (Marin) in Wageningen, in the north of the Netherlands.

The platform, made up of 87 floating triangles connected by flexible hinges which at full-scale would be 1-5km wide, is designed as a “future-proof living and working space at sea”.
