US storage pioneer Tesla will build what it says is the world’s biggest lithium-ion grid battery system at 100MW and link it to a wind farm, in a move it said will “transform” large-scale renewable energy in the state of South Australia.

The 100MW/129MWh Tesla storage system will be paired with the Hornsdale wind farm owned by French renewables developer Neoen, after the two won a tender run by the South Australia state government.
