The power purchase agreement (PPA) on offer as Tunisia tries to kick-start an ambitious renewable energy build programme is “unbankable” by international standards, developers and financiers warned.

The North African country has set a deadline of 15 November for developers to submit proposals for the initial tranche of projects for a first 210MW phase under the country’s 2020 programme, which aims to underpin the installation of a total 1GW wind and solar by the end of the decade, followed by another 1.5GW
