The European Commission has awarded a €4m ($4.56m) grant for a project to construct an electricity link between France and Ireland, allowing the integration of more renewables into the European energy system.
The promoters of the so-called Celtic Interconnector, RTE France and EirGrid, together with representatives of the French and Irish governments and the Commission have signed a grant agreement in Brussels.
