IBM has exceeded its 2020 renewable energy procurement target, pledging to assume a corporate leadership role to fight climate change while developing powerful weather models and analytic and cognitive capabilities to help its clients do the same.

The iconic US technology giant has been a leader in transitioning its energy usage to cleaner sources and reducing CO2 emissions, although its efforts have been overshadowed by those at more retail-based, mass consumption sector players such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft.
