China overtakes the US as world's largest RE generator, says BP

China overtook the US as the world’s largest generator of non-hydro renewable power in 2016, while Europe’s renewables output remained virtually flat due to weather, according to new statistics from British oil giant BP.

Meanwhile, Asia Pacific has overtaken Europe as the world’s largest renewables-generating region, thanks to strong and ongoing growth in China, Japan and India, according to BP’s annual Statistical Review of World Energy.
