Switzerland voted in a weekend referendum to phase out nuclear power in favour of a major shift to renewables, which will receive billions of dollars in subsidies in a new energy reform package.
Swiss voters backed the government’s Energy Strategy 2050 law, with 58.2% supporting plans which will see Switzerland’s five remaining nuclear plants decommissioned at the end of their life.
