Finland’s Wärtsilä, which makes and services power equipment in the marine and energy markets, has agreed to acquire US energy storage specialist Greensmith, adding large-scale battery storage to its arsenal as it expands its energy systems integration business globally.
The deal, whose financial terms were not disclosed, is expected to be finalised by July. Publicly-listed Wärtsilä has 18,000 employees globally and chalked up €4.8bn
