The European Environment Agency (EEA) has found that a surge in the use of wind and solar energy has helped Europe to cut its fossil-fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by around 10% in 2015.
A report, published by the EU agency, says the biggest reductions in fossil fuel use and carbon emissions through a switch to renewable energy sources happened in Germany, Italy and the UK.
