“Whether you like it or not, renewables are still very much dependent on market design and policy framework,” Paolo Frankl tells Recharge on the sidelines of a solar conference in Brussels. 

“And we don’t need simple policies. We need sophisticated policies to respond to a portfolio of objectives — one of which is to have the bulk of the clean energy at the cheapest cost possible; another, equally important for the long-term transition, is to keep as many [technology] options open as possible.
