The Danish wind equipment group says OCAS has produced a system that detects approaching aircraft and activates turbine strobe-lights as a warning.

The anti-collision system, which has been approved by aviation authorities in Norway, Sweden and Canada, also transmits an audio warning to the pilot’s VHF radio if the aircraft does not immediately change course.

The technology is already installed at 60 locations in Europe and North America, and regulatory approval is being sought in other countries, says Vestas.
