Dutch company 2B Energy will put its concept through its paces 20 metres offshore at the Fife Energy Park, Methil, with power generated by the turbine being used locally.
2B Energy claims its turbine features cost-cutting “differentiating designs for the rotor, nacelle, support structure and electrical system”.
The company first submitted an application in April 2010 for consent to construct and operate a demonstration wind turbine at Methil.
