The project, located in Zhangbei, Hebei province, includes 100MW of wind capacity, 40MW of solar power and 36MWh of energy storage capability using an iron phosphate battery supplied by China’s BYD.

The installation is backed by $500m in state funding.

The Zhangbei project was first unveiled in 2010 when China's State Grid said it would eventually link 300MW of wind energy and 100MW of solar with storage.
