Paris-listed concentrator PV (CPV) specialist Soitec said more than 50MW of its modules are in line to be used at all but three of 16 plants selected under a French government solar tender.
In the tender, France’s Commission de Régulation de l’Energie (CRE) called for an allocation of 20MW of ground-mounted plants exclusively based on CPV technology, plus 80MW more at which at least 50% CPV would be used.
Soitec said 16 projects were finally selected representing a volume of 103MW, and 13 of them plan to use its CPV modules – representing more than 50MW in total
Construction of the projects should be completed by spring of 2016, and the winning developers are now selecting EPC contractors.
Soitec's CPV technology uses triple junction cells mounted on glass support plates, on which Fresnel lenses concentrate sunlight to a factor of 500.
