Portugal’s Martifer Solar is building a 78.4MW portfolio of five PV plants in the UK.
Martifer has sold one of the projects and entered into an EPC agreement with Lightsource Renewable Energy to construct four additional ones.
Located in the English south and Midlands, all five plants will be added to the Lightsource asset management portfolio in the UK.
Martifer will be retained under an operation and maintenance (O&M) contract.
João Cunha, country manager of Martifer Solar in the UK said he is expecting the “healthy pipeline of utility-scale projects in development to be ready to build throughout 2014 and early 2015”.
The five PV plants consist of 308,418 modules in total installed in ground-mounted fixed structures, across a total area of about 155 hectares. The total portfolio of plants will generate around 69GWh of clean energy each year.
"Revenues wise, 2013 was one of our best years and 2014 is forecast to be even stronger for Martifer Solar," according to Henrique Rodrigues, CEO of the company.
Martifer, which entered the UK market in 2011 as a developer and EPC contractor, netted revenues of €230.8m ($309m) last year, and has installed more than 400MW of PV capacity globally.
