SolarOne wins Ikaros UK order

Hanwha SolarOne has secured a follow-on order from Belgian PV developer Ikaros for a utility-scale installation in the UK.

The Chinese-Korean manufacturer will supply 11.5MW – or more than 38,000 of its HSL-72 modules – for the project, which will be built in Norfolk between January and March.

Ikaros chief executive Yves Devis says his company returned to Hanwha SolarOne, owned by Korea’s Hanwha Group, due in part to its “financial stability”.

Schoten-based Ikaros has blossomed into a significant player in the UK’s utility-scale PV sector, and counts the Bluefield Solar Income Fund among the regular buyers of its finished projects.
