Shasta will use almost 15,000 Canadian Solar modules

Canadian Solar has sold one of the two utility-scale PV projects it is building in California to a subsidiary of New Jersey-based utility Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG).

The Shasta Solar Farm is the seventh PV project overall for PSEG Solar Source, the first on the US west coast, and the first it has acquired from Canadian Solar.

PSEG, which owns about 70MW of PV capacity across a handful of US states, bought all of its earlier projects from an arm of German developer Juwi.

The latest project, formerly known as Ignite, has been renamed the Shasta Solar Farm, with full commercial operation expected in early 2014.
