JinkoSolar – among the financially healthiest of China's major PV manufacturers – is nearing completion of a 200MW module factory in Portugal, Recharge can reveal.

The factory is already fully kitted-out with production equipment, but will likely wait to start production until the European Commission makes its final determination on anti-dumping duties, according to Dany Qian, Jinko’s global branding director.

“There is no exact start date,” Qian says. “We will wait until we have a clear picture of how the EU anti-dumping case [is resolved].”

Cells for the Portugal plant will be procured in Taiwan, giving Shanghai-based Jinko a complete workaround for any duties which are put in place by Brussels.
