EDP to put 3.9MW of PV on Portuguese stores

The supermarkets will be kitted out with REC modules

Portugal’s EDP is in the final leg of installing 3.9MW of PV at supermarkets owned by Sonae Distribuição, the country’s largest retailer, in a deal suggesting signs of life in the moribund Portuguese solar market.

Under the terms of the deal announced last month, EDP will build, own and operate 46 PV systems – all smaller than 250kW – on the rooftops of Continente supermarkets owned by Sonae.

It will share some of the revenue derived from selling the power into the grid with Sonae, and after 15 years full ownership will transfer to the retailer.
