SolarWorld to be dumped from TecDAX

It has been a long and bumpy road for SolarWorld since it chose “infinitely valuable” as the motto of its 2007 annual report, and now the German PV group is slated for expulsion from the prestigious TecDAX stock index in mid-March.

From 18 March SolarWorld will be replaced on the TecDAX by Telefónica Deutschland, the German subsidiary of Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica.

The TecDAX index, operated by Deutsche Börse, tracks the performances of the 30 largest public German technology companies.

Only a few years ago Germany’s vaunted renewables sector made up a major portion of the index. But with SolarWorld being shown to the exit – following other fallen PV giants like Centrotherm, Q-Cells and Conergy – the renewables business will be represented on the TecDAX by just two companies,…
