German solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) heavy-hitter Wirsol says it will beat a key deadline within the UK’s incentive scheme for 9.6MW of PV it is building in Cornwall for Lightsource.

Wirsol, based in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, is on track to commission the 6MW Hewas and 3.6MW Penhale arrays ahead of 1 April, when the number of Renewables Obligation Certificates (ROCs) offered to large PV systems drops from 2 to 1.6.

Wirsol is building the arrays for London-based Lightsource, which has rapidly emerged as the UK’s largest generator of solar energy, and will take ownership upon the projects’ commissioning.

Wirsol, which has installed more than 440MW of PV worldwide, will be retained as operations and maintenance supervisor.
