TGC plans 13MW UK PV project

PV is becoming a more attractive option to UK developers

Bristol-based developer TGC Renewables has applied for planning permission for a 13MW PV project in Cambridgeshire, which would be among the largest ever developed in the UK.

The project would cover 58 hectares, soak up an estimated 55,000 modules, and be supported by the Renewable Obligation (RO) mechanism.

Last autumn TGC broke ground at a 6.2MW PV array in Devon that was to become the first ground-mounted PV array in the UK to be connected under the RO scheme.

TGC’s new application will further fuel the sentiment that the UK’s new RO banding structure, announced by government in December, remains appealing to large-scale solar developers.

Under the new system, ground-mounted PV arrays will receive 1.6 Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) per MWh from April, falling…
