Conergy builds no-FIT Spanish projects

German PV group Conergy says it has built a series of small solar installations in Spain without feed-in tariff or other support, thanks to the divergence between production costs and power prices.

The Hamburg-based company has since the autumn built 14 PV projects with a combined capacity of 75kW, mostly in Catalonia.

“Since our first net-parity-project in the autumn of last year we have brought several further installations online without support – both on private homes and many businesses,” Conergy Spain head Luis Jiménez Gutierrez said.

The cost of solar power in Spain now stands at around €0.1 per kWh, compared to the €0.15 to €0.17 consumers have to pay to utilities for electricity from the grid, Conergy said.
