Isofoton Spanish jobs under threat

Spanish PV manufacturer Isofoton will within a week or two announce a restructuring plan for its Malaga factory that could see as many as 380 of the 700 workers there laid off or put on reduced hours.

The revelation comes just a few weeks after Isofoton began selling modules produced at its new factory in the US state of Ohio.

The divergence between Isofoton’s squeeze on its European workforce and expansion in the US underscores the rapidly-evolving demand landscape for the solar industry, and the continued challenges surviving European players face in dealing with uncompetitive legacy factories.
