The fund will provide Dh33m (nearly $9m) as part of the long-term, low-interest loan agreement to build the array near the West African country’s capital, Freetown.

“We believe in supporting developing countries and helping them deploy renewable energy as a substitute for traditional energy that has negative effects on humans and the environment,” says ADFD director-general Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.

“We believe in the importance of encouraging investment in renewable energy, and that’s why we launched this initiative.”
