Taken as a whole, the EU remains on track to meet its 2020 target, with individual progress reports from Member States indicating the bloc had already reached its cumulative 2012 benchmark by 2010.
But this early progress “hides a gloomy outlook” for the later part of the decade, when the full consequences of recent policy changes will become apparent, according to EREC, whose members include the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), the European Photovoltaic Industries Association (EPIA) and the European Solar Thermal Electricity Association (ESTELA).
