The EU move, which emerged last month, comes as the European Commission (EC) carries out separate investigations into claims of dumping and illegal subsidies lodged by some European PV manufacturers, with a final ruling expected later this year.

The registration by customs officials will last for nine months.

The EC said in EU publication the Official Journal: “Imports of the product concerned should be made subject to registration in order to ensure that, should the investigations result in findings leading to the imposition of anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties, those duties can, if the necessary conditions are fulfilled, be levied retroactively.”
