SolarWorld sells 46MW of plants

German PV group SolarWorld has built and sold solar plants in Germany and the US with a combined capacity of 46MW.

The company’s Solarparc unit developed and sold a 21.3MW project on the Pütnitz peninsular in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state to the White Owl group, a German institutional investor. Solarparc will continue to operate the plant.

The company’s US unit SolarWorld Americas sold two plants with a combined capacity of 25MW to Duke Energy Renewables in Twentynine Palms, California.

The US plants will be online in the second quarter of 2013, SolarWorld said.

SolarWorld AG late yesterday admitted that it may have suffered after-tax losses of up to €550m ($717m) in 2012.
