Net profits at theMunich-based company shrank to €5.1m ($6.7m) in the first quarter, down from€41.8m in the same quarter of 2011, while sales dropped to €1.08bn from €1.19bna year earlier – despite rising volumes.
“The low pricelevels for solar silicon and semiconductor wafers were the principal reason whysales did not reach the Q1 2012 figure,” the company said. Butit stressed that compared to the previous quarter, sales were up 6%.
