The deal with Astronergy will see 200 of the roughly 280 jobs at Conergy’s module plant spared.
“We are convinced of the high quality and the profound knowhow at the manufacturing site, and intend to acquire and preserve the location,” says Astronergy vice president Chuan Lu. “We plan to fully integrate the factory into our existing structures.”
Meanwhile, all of the remaining 180 or so jobs in Conergy’s mounting systems – spread between Rangsdorf in Germany and Sacramento in California – will be spared once the unit is bought by an as-yet-unnamed investor.
