Canadian Solar 100MW China order

PV manufacturer Canadian Solar has clinched a 100MW supply deal to equip three plants in China.

Canadian Solar said system integrator Zhenfa New Energy Science & Technology  will use its modules at two PV plants in Gansu province and a third in Inner Mongolia.

CEO Shawn Qu said: "Clearly, Chinese demand for solar modules going into the first quarter of 2014 remains strong, and based on our planning sessions with major developers and project off takers, we currently expect demand for solar modules in China to exceed 10GW in 2014."

Canadian Solar – which carries out the bulk of its production in China – has emerged as one of the pace-setters of the rebounding PV market.

It became one of a handful of major Chinese PV players to return to profitability in the third quarter of 2013.

Module deliveries for the latest order will begin this month and are expected to be completed in January.
