Trina secures 36MW Chile deal

Trina Solar will supply 36MW of PV modules for a utility-scale solar project in Chile.

The manufacturer, based in the eastern Chinese city of Changzhou, expects to complete the delivery in the second quarter. It did not reveal the precise location of the project or the terms of the deal.

New York-listed Trina opened an office in Santiago, Chile, in September 2012 to capture rising PV demand throughout South America.

Earlier this month, it followed rival Yingli as the second major Chinese module supplier to raise its gross-margin guidance for the first quarter on higher average selling prices, although it lowered its overall shipment guidance from 670MW-700MW to 540MW-570MW.
