Conergy wins first Japan EPC deal

Conergy has nabbed its first EPC order in Japan, while reaffirming its ambitions for the booming Japanese market.

Conergy – whose sales and services units were bought last year by US-based Kawa Capital Management – is designing and building the 830kW ground-mount project in Hokkaido for Fujicom, and using its own in-house modules.

Conergy also named Hideyuki Otaka its first managing director in Japan, having recently opened its first branch office in Tokyo.

The company will initially focus on establishing a position as an EPC player for ground-mount and industrial rooftop projects in Japan, with a longer-term ambition of moving into residential rooftops.

“Over the past year we have stepped up our business development efforts in Japan and these are now showing promising results,” says Alexander Lenz, president of Conergy Asia & Middle East.

Conergy last month acquired the UK operations of Germany’s Wirsol, including a 100MW portfolio, and aims to become a provider of solar leases in the US to large organisations like school districts and corporations.
