Sharp to deliver 52MW of Thai PV

Japanese electronics group Sharp has signed a deal with power producer Serm Sang Palang Ngan (SSP) to provide PV modules and EPC services for a 52MW project in central Thailand.

The Osaka-based company will supply roughly 400,000 thin-film modules and balance of plant for the project, which will span 1.3 sq km in Lopburi province, north of Bangkok.

Sharp Solar Maintenance Asia, a group subsidiary, will provide maintenance and operations services.

Construction contractor Italian-Thai Development is scheduled to finish building the plant by the end of this year.

Last week, Sharp revealed plans to stop producing PV modules at its factory in Memphis, Tennessee, as part of ongoing efforts to restructure its global solar business.
