Solar Frontier says the 11.6MW project it has completed in Osaka is Asia's biggest airport PV installation.

Solar Frontier has finished installing 11.6MW of PV capacity at Kansai International Airport in Osaka.

The project, first announced last April, will start generating electricity on 1 February. It is the biggest airport solar installation in Asia, the company said in an online statement.

The project is a joint venture between the Tokyo-based CIS thin-film specialist and the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ).

In December, Solar Frontier announced plans to launch PV module production at a new 150MW factory near Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, from March 2015.
