The partners will set up a JV in Pakistan

Solar components distributor Nizam Energy and Chinese EPC specialist Powerway Renewable Energy have unveiled ambitions to jointly build more than 1GW of PV capacity in Pakistan and the Middle East.

The companies will offer packaged construction, financing and maintenance services to independent power producers (IPPs) and developers.

Karachi-based Nizam and Powerway, a PV developer headquartered in the southern Chinese city of Foshan, did not disclose the terms of the deal.

They will set up a firm in Pakistan to handle engineering and construction services, in addition to another new venture in Dubai that will specialise in procurement and project financing.

Powerway, a unit of China’s Aikosolar, has subsidiaries in Japan and South Africa and claims to have developed 1.2GW of solar projects.
