Yingli Solar roars on in H1 – IHS

Chinese PV manufacturer Yingli Solar cemented its lead in the global module market in the first half of 2013, according to analyst IHS.

Yingli shipped 1.45GW to the merchant market in the January to June period, giving it an 8.1% market share, IHS said.

That compares to the 7.3% share Yingli enjoyed in the first half of 2012.

Yingli pulled in 39% more revenue than global number two, its Chinese compatriot Trina Solar, IHS added.

“Yingli in the first half of 2013 benefited from strong growth in demand in China,” said Jessica Jin, solar analyst at IHS.
