Beijing-based Hanergy has started a global push to find new opportunities for its thin-film PV products in the downstream solar market.
The Chinese company’s new Hanergy Global Solar Power and
Applications Group will target areas including integrating thin-film into
building materials, rooftop and ground-mounted arrays, and flexible modules for
Hanergy will run the new unit through six offices in Europe and the
Middle East, North and South America, Africa, and the China/Asia-Pacific region.
Hanergy, which started life as a dam-builder and hydropower
developer, has driven hard into thin-film PV via the acquisitions of two copper
indium gallium selenide (CIGS) specialists – US-based MiaSole and Germany’s Solibro.
