Bank of China 'to sue Suntech over debts'

Suntech, the troubled PV panel-maker, faces being sued by its biggest creditor, Bank of China, according to a local media report, further reducing hopes that the company will manage to refinance an upcoming $541m bond payment.

According to the 21 Century Business Herald newspaper, the Bank of China – one of the country’s big four commercial banks – plans to initiate legal proceedings over its loans to the solar company later this month.

The report cites an unnamed source from a large state-owned bank.

Suntech has not yet responded to an enquiry from Recharge regarding the report. Bank of China could not be reached for comment on the matter.
